논문제목 3D-bifunctional nanostructured MXene host electrodes for ionic liquid-based aluminum metal anodes

논문초록 Owing to the high specific and volumetric capacities (2,980 mA g-1 and 8,060 mA h cm-3) of the aluminum metal anode (AMA) and the abundance of aluminum resources, rechargeable aluminum batteries (RABs) have garnered substantial attention as a next-generation, high-energy-density energy storage system. However, the AMA faces challenges such as sluggish ionic transfer due to an oxide-based passivation layer and galvanic corrosion induced by Lewis acidic ionic liquid-based electrolytes (ILE). These issues result in hindrances to their electrochemical performance, including overpotential, Coulombic efficiencies, and cycling stabilities. In this study, 3D-bifunctional nanostructured MXene host electrodes with negatively charged surface functional groups were designed to facilitate homogeneous aluminum metal nucleation and growth and to alleviate aluminum corrosion in ILE. The superiority of these 3D-bifunctional nanostructured MXene host electrodes for AMA was demonstrated through comprehensive electrochemical tests.
